Who scheduled this football game? It was so early!! I had to be at work at 6:15!! Was I there then? No. I was close, though. I worked 20 hours over the course of two days, with only five hours of sleeping in between getting off work and having to be back. Awesome, huh?
No, it really was! Julie B. Beck talked to me! We had a conversation! I got the assignment of serving her table Friday night (I may have had something to do with that) and when I served her dinner she stopped me and we chatted. I told her that coincidentally, I had listened to one of her talks that very morning. She asked my name, and my hometown, and said the food and service was great. Very nice of her. And then today, at the football game, she recognized me when I ladled up some soup for her and pointed me out to her grandson, I think.
This is why catering is worth it.
Funny story. I was walking home Friday night (yes, Mom and Grandma, with some other people) and I lost my balance and stepped off the sidewalk. Into a mud puddle. The whole Hollywood-mud puddle-sucking the shoe off scene... is not just Hollywood. I had to fish around in the mud to find my shoe!
When I got off work this afternoon, the prospect of walking all the way home before a nap really wasn't appealing.
